“Troy [Corstens] trains them out of Flemington and they do their initial early work at his farm near Benalla with a lot of hills…”
Baystone Farm’s principal Dean Harvey is a fixture at bloodstock sales throughout Australia — be it weanlings, yearlings or broodmares on offer.
Harvey has established a strong clientele through his proven methods of buying and selling racing prospects, both to the domestic and offshore market. One prime example is 2023/24 2-year-old stakes winner Aardvark who was bought as a yearling before being sold to James Harron Bloodstock and his clients before winning at stakes level at this first career start.
Baystone Farm’s profile in Hong Kong is also growing by the season through a select number of high quality additions to the HKJC racing ranks. Fantastic Treasure, a relatively recent HKJC Champion Griffin, is one such example, while the 2023/24 season witnessed the emergence of Call Me Glorious, a three-time winner in his maiden campaign expected to go on to bigger and better things in the 2024/25 racing term.
Growing reputation
“We bought Aardvark … and Bittercreek at that Magic Millions sale.
“Bittercreek was obviously the most expensive, and to be honest, I didn’t think we’d be able to buy him. We loved him as a yearling. He was by Snitzel, good looking, no glitches, it was just ‘tick, tick, tick’.”
