The Baystone way

Baystone Farm is the thoroughbred concern of Dean Harvey, a very well-respected and popular member of the Australian bloodstock fraternity developing an outstanding reputation as a source of pre-trained racing prospects sold via ‘Breeze-up’ sales or through private negotiation.

In a relatively short space of time, Dean has unearthed an impressive list of talent, having begun by pinhooking multiple Group 1 winner Montefilia as a weanling in 2018. Much more recently, graduates of Baystone Farm’s system include 2023/24 stakes winning 2-year-olds Bittercreek (BRC Champagne Classic-G2), Aardvark (VRC Talndert S.-LR) and Epimeles (VRC ANZAC Day Stks.-LR), as well as the exciting Hong Kong prospect Call Me Glorious.

Baystone Farm also acts as a major consignor of young broodmares in foal and fillies/mares straight off the track. These include the likes of Truly Discreet ($800,000), Platinum Bullet ($540,000), Indrabeel ($400,000) and Tiempe Passate ($380,000) — all of which were offered and sold at recent renewals of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Location

Baystone Farm is located close to the township of Gnarwarre in Victoria, a region probably best-known in the thoroughbred world as being the home of triple Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva.

Part of the Makybe property owned by the Santic family now forms part of Victoria’s thriving stallion station Rosemont Stud, home to some of the Garden State’s most commercial sires.
