Baystone unearth another smart maiden winner

Son of Toronado scores hands and heels maiden win

The Baystone Farm production line has unearthed another very promising young galloper in the form of Deployed, an impressive debut winner at Geelong on the same afternoon as the Champions Day program at Flemington.

A 3-year-old gelded son of Toronado (Ire), Deployed was settled between six-to-seven lengths off the pace by jockey Jake Noonan before unleashing a powerful finishing burst in the straight to score under hands and heels riding.

Deployed won by a comfortable one-and-a-half length margin as the $2.60 second favourite. He clocked 1m05.75s in winning the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1118m. The time was acutely superior to that posted by Pontificate in landing a 0-58 handicap over the same course and distance later in the day.

Deployed is closely related to a handful of very sharp Group and Listed Race winners. His dam is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 runner-up Vormista, while his third-dam is a Listed SAJC Lightning Stakes (1000m) winner in the form of Natural Beauty. The pedigree page also features the short-course black-type winners Natural Tycoon (VRC Kensington Stks.-LR) and Ashkaleta (VATC Blue Diamond Preveiw-Gr.3 [f]).
