New HKJC winner off the Baystone production line

Invincible Shield salutes at second start for Francis Lui

Baystone Farm has another graduate making his mark in Hong Kong, Invincible Shield saluting at Sha Tin at just his second start for trainer Francis Lui.

Ridden by British-based hoop Tom Marquand in the penultimate event of Sunday’s February 16 program, Invincible Shield ‘got up’ in a three-way photo finish to open up his winning account under the HKJC’s jurisdiction — adding to four consecutive wins recorded in Australia before his departure overseas.

A son of multiple champion sire I Am Invincible as his name would suggest, Invincible Shield was bought by Baystone Farm from the Yarraman Park Stud draft offered at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney.

After two starts in Victoria as a spring 3-year-old,  Invincible Shield was transferred to champion Queensland-based trainer Tony Gollan who subsequently won four straight at Doomben with the very rapid sprinter before his move to Hong Kong towards the backend of 2024.

Invincible Shield is now trained on behalf the Smiling Proud Wanderer Syndicate by Francis Lui, whose name will now forever be associated with the immortal Hong Kong galloper Golden Sixty.

Invincible Shield joins fellow Baystone Farm alumni such as Fantastic Treasure and Call Me Glorious in the winning ranks of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, with a small handful of other graduates waiting in the wings including General Patch (formerly raced as Deployed in Australia), Glaciated and Catch Me If U Can.
